New England Political Initiatives to Stop the Spread of Invasives IPANE has complied tables of legislation concerning invasive plant species from each of the New England states. These tables provide information
on the status of the legislation and a brief synopsis, as well as a link to access the full text of each bill. Most of the existing legislation has focused on aquatic invasives, since intrastate water bodies can be quarantined, and the cost of control and monitoring is paid for by watercraft registration fees. Various states have introduced legislation proposing the formation of invasive species councils. These groups research the invasive species problems within each state and develop further state legislation regulating not only aquatics but also terrestrial species.
