Project Title: The role of disturbance on forest succession in a critically imperiled plant community: The American Holly (Ilex opaca) maritime forest.
Abstract: N/A
Goal: N/A
Objective: The research focused on the dynamics of the maritime holly forest located on Sandy Hook, NJ. Vegetation plots established over a decade ago by Henry Art were relocated and the tree, shrub and herbaceous layers were resampled. The age structure of the forest were examined by obtaining a sample of increment cores from holly occurring within the canopy and sub-canopy. Tree cores were used to estimate age and patterns of radial growth.
